Betaletan Geography, Periri Gumi Paer: Geography Study Program Holds Greening

SELONG – Geography Education Study Program, Sunday (05/01/2020) The Geography Education Study Program of Hamzanwadi University held a reforestation entitled "Geography Betaletan" in the fostered village of North Peringgajurang. This reforestation program was held under the theme "Peririq Gumi Paer", in the Sasak language meaning to improve the earth of the universe, with the intention of being able to foster the spirit of planting, reforesting and saving the sustainability of the surrounding natural environment.

In this activity, dozens of students were present, together with lecturers from the Geography Education Study Program, the community, village heads and government officials of North Pringgajurang Village, Montong Gading District, East Lombok Regency. In addition, the reforestation centered in North Peringgajurang Village with the main activity of planting six thousand Jackfruit and Sengon tree seedlings.

Head of the Geography Education Study Program (Kaprodi) Dr. Armin Subhani, M.Pd in ​​his speech said, in accommodating students in carrying out lectures, it is not only carried out in class, but also needs to be held field lectures to increase knowledge and experience. In addition, the hydrology expert doctor said that life on campus, students need to contribute creative ideas in social problems in developing human resources to follow up on natural resource problems directly.

Meanwhile, the Head of North Peringgajurang Village, H. Abdul Halim, S.P during the opening of the program and on the sidelines of planting expressed his high appreciation for the implementation of this planting activity. "We really welcome and really appreciate the participation and involvement of all parties. Especially from the academic community of the Geography Education Study Program, Hamzanwadi University," he said with full appreciation.

Halim continued, activities like this need to be improved and developed so that they can be better and more optimal in order to increase students' critical thinking in responding to problems, both issues related to the environment and society. "Activities like this need to be improved, because reforestation like this is good for increasing students' critical thinking related to problems directly related to the community, both in natural resource issues managed by the community," he explained.

After the reforestation activity, the agenda continued with a discussion activity with lecturers, village heads, students, and the community around the planting location. This was done with the aim of following up on future prospects and programs, especially in terms of development and development of the potential of the North Perigajurang village towards a better village.

"The future follow-up plan, we have planned that the North Pringgajurang village will be developed into an Agrotourism village, by increasing the planting of superior plants, namely Mangosteen and Durian seedlings. Because these two types of fruit seedlings are more useful and have the potential to increase income and improve the economy of the North Pringgajurang community," he concluded. (persma/yus)
