The ceremony to commemorate Heroes' Day on November 10, 2020, which took place at the National Heroes' Cemetery Complex TGKH M Zainuddin Abd Majid, Pancor, East Lombok, NTB, took place solemnly. At that moment, Dr. H. Khirjan Nahdi conveyed a piece of the story of the life struggle of the hero from Gumi Lombok.

He said that the Sasak civilization, especially at that time, starting in the 12th century, Sasak was colonized by the Majapahit kingdom which was Hindu. The 16th century was colonized by Makassar which came from the east.

"The early 18th century to the early 19th century was again colonized by the Hindu kingdom which came from the west of the neighboring island and was colonized by the Dutch and Japanese colonizers," he said during the 2020 Heroes' Day ceremony.

It was stated that the struggle of Kyai Haji Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid or HAMZANWADI in building the nation cannot be separated from the four discourses that accompanied his struggle. First, intelligence, second, sincerity, third, exemplary, and fourth, usefulness for future development.

"The four discourses began in 1934 or 11 years before Indonesia's independence, he pioneered the Al Mujahidin Islamic Boarding School as the forerunner of the Hamzanwadi Education Foundation, the Daarun Nahdlathain Pancor Islamic Boarding School as it is today, and God willing until the end of time," he said.

Next, said Khirjan, at that time the Sasak people as part of the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia were colonized by western nations, namely the Netherlands and Japan who had previously colonized the Karangasem kingdom of Bali with religious and cultural penetration, but this still met with resistance from the community.

"Awareness of intelligence began to emerge with educational instruments becoming the main instrument that demanded independence. That means, Tgkh. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid since before independence has been active and aware of the importance of independence through education," he added.

After Indonesia's independence, with the presence of the NICA (Nederlands Indie Civil Administration) army which was piggybacked by the Netherlands and Australia who wanted to recolonize this country. That was when the Nahdatul Wathan Islamic Boarding School became the main defense fortress, of course with spirituality through the prayers of the works that were recited which were broadcast at that time.

"And at that time one of his brothers, namely TGH Muhammad Faisal, became one of the victims in the incident and that was the beginning of the establishment of the Rinjani Heroes' Cemetery," said the preacher who is a philosophy expert.

This incident can actually be equated with the general attack of March 1, 1948 in Yogyakarta which was intellectually initiated by Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX, but popularized by Major General Soeharto. This is the parallelism of the level of struggle.

It didn't stop there, during the 1964-1965 revolution, Tgkh M Zainuddin Abdul Madjid made the Darunnahdlatain Nahdlatul Wathan Islamic Boarding School an ideological fortress from destroying the communist ideology at that time. "This needs to be a note for all of us," he said.

In the New Order phase, Khirjan said, he started development by doing many things through the available educational, social, preaching, and economic development instruments. So, don't be mistaken, when there is an analogy that says that Pancor is affiliated with the yellow party.

"At that time it was not merely the interests of political instrumentation, not merely because of political lust, but more about the matter of gratitude to General Soeharto, the ruler of the New Order, because Soeharto was the driving force of the September 30, 1965 Movement," he said.

Therefore, Muslims in particular must be grateful to Soeharto for choosing to support Golkar. That is political history. Why at that time what was campaigned was the Golkar campaign," he said. It did not stop there, Tuan Guru Haji Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid continued to initiate development in the New Order era.

"Do you still remember the Family Planning program? In the past, many religious figures and clerics refused, but he was willing to accept, and even became the driving force behind the Family Planning Movement in West Nusa Tenggara," he explained.

TGKH. Zainuddin Abd Madjid also supported the agricultural intensification and extension program. "He was at the forefront of the process. Then there was immunization at that time in various forms, he was also at the forefront of initiatives and movements through Nahdatul Wathan," he continued.

The four topics, namely intelligence, sincerity, exemplary behavior, and usefulness possessed by TGKH M Zaiuddin Abdul Madjid for development, may continue to be maintained, preserved, and developed by all parties.
