Hamzanwadi University Renews BPI Scholarship Management Cooperation with Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology

East Lombok, May 23, 2025—Hamzanwadi University reaffirmed its commitment as a destination campus for students receiving the Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI) by signing a cooperation agreement with the Higher Education Financing and Assessment Center (PPAPT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (KEMENDIKSAINTEK).

This signing is an update of the previous cooperation that has been established since 2023. This change was made in line with the institutional restructuring of the Higher Education Financing Center (BPPT) to PPAPT. The Head of PPAPT, Henri Tambunan, explained that in addition to managing financing, this institution now also has the authority to assess the performance of scholarship recipient universities.

"PPAPT currently manages four main scholarship schemes, namely KIP Kuliah, BPI, Nusantara Student Dormitory, and Education Affirmation," said Henri. He also revealed that the allocation of the Indonesian Education Scholarship has undergone significant changes. “Now, BPI is no longer intended for undergraduate students, but is allocated specifically for lecturers who are continuing their doctoral studies at domestic universities.”

On the same occasion, Henri gave a leak regarding the planned launch of a new scholarship scheme by the Ministry of Education and Culture, namely a joint degree. This scheme allows students to study at two universities—domestic and foreign—thus encouraging international cooperation between universities.

Vice Chancellor III of Hamzanwadi University for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. H. Musifuddin, M.Pd, said that this cooperation is very important to strengthen the governance of BPI scholarships on campus. “Currently, there are 17 students from the Tourism Study Program who receive BPI scholarships. With the change in the ministry’s nomenclature, universities need to immediately make adjustments so that services to students remain optimal,” he said.

Musifuddin also welcomed the joint degree scholarship plan. “Hamzanwadi University is currently actively building partnerships with foreign universities. This program will greatly support the internationalization of the campus,” he said enthusiastically.

Through this strategic collaboration, Hamzanwadi University hopes to continue to strengthen its role as a government partner campus in expanding access and improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
