Improving Quality, FBSH Hamzanwadi University Holds Workshop

SELONG- Taskforce Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Tourism Study Program, Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Humanities (FBSH) Universitas Hamzanwadi held a project-based learning (PBL) and case study workshop, starting from 25 to 26 July 2023.

The workshop lasted for two consecutive days, involving expert lecturers in the field of tourism, as well as resource persons who have extensive experience in dealing with various real case studies.

"The output of this activity is in the form of interactive learning modules and devices. This event can provide a holistic perspective for students regarding the challenges and opportunities in the world of tourism," said Dean of FBSH Universitas Hamzanwadi Dr. H Mohzana.

He emphasized that in PBL learning, students are invited to learn actively by facing real problems in the world of tourism and finding solutions through structured projects or assignments.

"This workshop is intended to increase the capacity of lecturers in planning, implementing and evaluating the lecture process which is very relevant to the current world of work, often with advances in technology and science," he said.

This concept allows students to improve their critical thinking skills, collaborate, and communicate effectively. In addition, they can also hone their time management and leadership skills, which are important attributes in the workplace.

Meanwhile, learning through case studies provides an opportunity for students to understand more deeply various real situations in the tourism industry, including complex problems and successful strategies in dealing with them.

"Through in-depth analysis of case studies, students can broaden their horizons and identify the best way to overcome challenges they may face later," he explained.

It is hoped that after attending this workshop, Tourism Study Program students will have an understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of the tourism industry. In addition, they will have a project portfolio and case analysis that can be valuable capital in finding work.

The activity invited speakers from the Trisakti Tourism Institute (IPT) Jakarta and Poltekpar Lombok. The Head of the Trisakti Tourism Study Program, Drs. Amrullah, M.Si. Par. CHE explained about PBL project-based learning.

According to him, this program emphasizes three main things, namely challenges, real events, and grouping in the learning process carried out. Therefore, the importance of the lecture process carried out in the tourism industry/destination for students.

"The learning process with PBL is very relevant so that it can be used for various scientific disciplines, both tourism, English and Indonesian," he explained.
