IN HOUSE TRAINING FOR LECTURER AND LABORATORY COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT FACULTY OF EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES

Lecturers and Laboratory Assistants in the Faculty of Education, Hamzanwadi University were given Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) training for children with hearing impairments. The activity which was held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 in the Hamzanwadi University meeting room was a series of the implementation of the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) for the PGPAUD Study Program in 2024. This program aims to improve disability-friendly services in an equal and responsive campus environment, as well as prepare the competence of prospective educators in organizing inclusive schools.

The resource person in this activity invited Prof. Dr. Sujarwanto, M.Pd. is a Professor of Special Education Management at the State University of Surabaya and Abu Musa Asy'ari, the best alumni of the State University of Surabaya. In this activity, the Dean of the Faculty of Education Muhammad Sururuddin, M.Pd. said that this activity was initiated to provide competence for Lecturers and Laboratory Assistants in the Faculty of Education in preparing for the implementation of inclusive education, considering that one of the advantages of Hamzanwadi University is an inclusive and friendly campus for all parties, including people with disabilities.

Prof. Sujarwanto, M.Pd. in the first session delivered material on the basic concepts of hearing impairment and learning strategies. Then continued in the second session by Abu Musa Asy'ari delivering material on the practice of using Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) for children with hearing impairments.

By continuing to support the development of inclusive communication skills, the Faculty of Education is determined to continuously create disability-friendly services that can be accessed by the entire community, regardless of physical condition or ability to communicate.
