Indonesian Mathematics Association Bali-Nusra Region Successfully Holds Regional Conference at Hamzanwadi University
EAST LOMBOK – The 2024 Regional Conference (Muswil) of the Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS) Bali-Nusa Tenggara (Nusra) went smoothly and successfully.
The Muswil event was held at Hamzanwadi University on December 7, 2024 in a hybrid manner and was attended by IndoMS members from Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.
On that occasion, the President of IndoMS, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., was also present online. In his remarks, he said that mathematics is one of the barometers for the development of science and technology, one of which is Artificial Intelligence.
The Dean of FMIPA, Hamzanwadi University, Dr. H. Edy Waluyo, M.Pd expressed his gratitude for IndoMS' trust in Hamzanwadi University for choosing him as the host for the implementation of this Muswil.
He hopes that the elected administrators can contribute to education in the future, especially for improving the quality of children's mathematics in school level. He hopes that collaboration between IndoMS members will be more productive.
Edu Waluyo realizes that the development of mathematics has a positive contribution not only for mathematicians, but also has a big impact on human life in various aspects.
"We hope that IndoMS can provide a positive impact on the development of education in Indonesia, both at the school and university levels," he said.
The outgoing Governor of IndoMS Bali-Nusra, Dr. Syamsul Bahri, M.Si. delivered the accountability report of the previous management. He said that several programs had been implemented.
"One of them is holding the Lombok Mathematics Seminar, and other programs. However, there are still many things that have not been implemented," while hoping that the newly elected management will be able to provide a better contribution.
It should be noted that, at this Muswil, there are two candidates who registered to become the Governor of IndoMS Bali-Nusra Region, namely Prof. Dr. Sutarto, M.Pd. from Mandalika Education University and Dr. Al-Kusaeri, M.Pd from Mataram State Islamic University.
In the election that took place democratically, Prof. Dr. Sutarto, M.Pd has succeeded in gaining the trust of members of the Indonesian Mathematics Association (IndoMS) for the Bali-Nusa Tenggara region to serve as Governor for the 2025-2026 period.
