Selong — The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Universitas Hamzanwadi recently hosted an inspiring international guest lecture, providing students with a rare opportunity to learn directly from renowned South Korean musician and producer Park Seung Hoon.

During two engaging sessions held on Monday, June 23, and Monday, June 30, 2025, Park Seung Hoon presented lectures blending cultural insights, traditional roots, and contemporary musical innovation. His presentations covered the following topics:
•    Introduction to Korean Traditional Music and K-Pop: Park Seung Hoon discussed the evolutionary journey of Korean music, from its traditional roots like gugak to the global popularity of modern K-Pop. Students were guided to understand the musical elements, history, and philosophy that shape Korea’s musical identity.
•    Collaboration Between Korean and Lombok Traditional Music: This interactive session encouraged participants to explore collaborative potential between Korean and Lombok musical traditions. Participants actively discussed and creatively experimented with integrating Korean instruments like the gayageum with Lombok’s traditional instruments, such as the gendang beleq and suling sasak.

The event underscored Universitas Hamzanwadi’s ongoing commitment to broadening student perspectives on global cultural diversity and highlighted the significance of cultural diplomacy in arts education. Furthermore, such collaborative programs strengthen cultural ties between Indonesia and South Korea through education and art.

“Music is a universal language. Through cultural collaborations like this, we can learn from each other and create new, meaningful harmonies,” Park Seung-Hoon stated during one of his sessions.

The guest lecture received enthusiastic participation from Arts Education students and the local community. The event aimed not only to expand participants' knowledge but also to inspire ongoing creativity and elevate local artistic traditions to the global stage.
