Preparing Tourism Students for Internships: Focus on Excellent Service and Destination Programs
To better prepare students for their upcoming internship program, the Tourism Study Program at Hamzanwadi University recently hosted key speakers from the industry. The General Manager of Resort Brik shared insights on "excellent service" in the tourism industry, while the East Lombok Regency BPPD (Tourism Promotion Board) discussed tourism destination program mapping.
This year, Tourism Study Program students will intern at nine different locations. These include four tourism industry sites, three tourism destinations, and two tourism institutions, offering a broad range of practical experiences.
Muhammad Ramli, M.Pd., the Coordinator of the Tourism Study Program, stated that this marks the third year the program has placed students in internships, consistently striving to enhance program quality. He added that the internship locations are also expanding beyond East Lombok to include West Lombok, Mataram, and even Gili Trawangan, offering students more diverse opportunities.
From the same platform, Dr. Drs. H. Mohzana, M.Pd., Dean of the Faculty of Language, Arts, and Humanities (FBSH), emphasized that off-campus activities like internships are essential for students to apply the knowledge they've gained throughout their studies, from the first to the sixth semester. He concluded by highlighting that these internships are also designed to prepare students for readiness in the workforce after graduation.
