SELONG – The Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Central Scientific Student Association (SIMIK) of Hamzanwadi University, Saturday (11/01/2019) yesterday held a research seminar with the theme "Researching is Fun" enjoyable in researching with SIMIK. The activity which took place in the Auditorium of Hamzanwadi University was carried out smoothly by presenting hundreds of participants from students and inviting reliable speakers, from Journal Managers, Academics and Lecturers of Hamzanwadi University.

The invited speakers included, Head of the UKK Bureau of Hamzanwadi University Irawan Rahardi, M. Sc, Students and Academics from Gunung Rinjani University Lalu Nurul Yakin, C.Ph. D, Counseling Guidance Lecturer and Journal Manager Educatio Fitri Aulia, M. Pd, and also present motivator and journal manager Element Sahibul Ahyan M. Pd, providing experience and knowledge about the excitement of researching and writing.

The Head of UKM SIMIK, Abdul Razak Badawi, said that research is one way to find answers or solutions to the problems we see and hear. "Research means studying seriously, earnestly and in detail. There needs to be a critical attitude in filtering knowledge or information, especially for those of us who are dealing with the digital era because it is very close to hoaxes that are easily spread," he said.

He explained that SIMIK is a nickname for the UKM Sentral Ikatan Mahasiswa Ilmiah Kampus which specifically operates in the scientific field, with the research seminar activities successfully arousing the enthusiasm of students to foster a sense of sensitivity to various problems that occur and change the old mindset that states that research is horror. Even ironically, it is not uncommon for the phenomenon of final semester students to feel afraid before fighting in completing their final reports or theses.

The target of this activity is semester 7 who are in the process of submitting their thesis titles. However, there are also quite a few from the lower semesters who attended the event room. Not only students from Hamzanwadi University, but also students from the Hamzanwadi Islamic Institute (IAIH Pancor), Mataram University and UIN Mataram also participated in making the Basic Research Training (Pra PDP) a success in the form of a seminar.

"Basic Research Training is divided into 2 activities, namely, Pre PDP in the form of material provision (Seminar) which was held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 yesterday. Then it will be continued with "Field PDP" in the form of practice and recreation on January 31-9, 2019 which is located in Masbagik and Sembalun for 10 days," he explained in detail.

President of the BEM Hamzanwadi University Student Executive Board, Zulkarnain, said that referring to history, research is the key to the progress of a civilization. "The beginning of the rise of western civilization began with the philosophy of materialism which views the scope of science as very important. And research is one of the products of the philosophy of materialism," said the number one student on the Hamzanwadi campus.

Not only that, Zul said that students' motivation in participating in scientific events must be fostered. "The academic nuance of the campus must be enlivened with new goodness. Literacy skills must continue to be honed. Because, it must be realized together that the challenges of life in the future will be even tougher, therefore human resources must also be stronger. With the presence of this event, it is hoped that it will be able to create prospective researchers who excel and contribute in the future," he concluded. (Persma/SMH)
