
Successfully Eliminating Competitors, Hamzanwadi University Students Enter the 4th NSLSM National Event
Semarang – Arif Rahman Hakim, a student of the Environmental Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Hamzanwadi University, has succeeded in becoming one of the 30 best essay participants at the 4th National Student Leaders on Sustainability Meeting (NSLSM).
This event took place on December 5-7, 2024 at Semarang State University (Unnes) in collaboration with the University of Indonesia Green Metric.
Arif succeeded in eliminating 145 participants from various universities in Indonesia through his essay entitled "Repaying Ecological Debt: Gen Z's Responsibility in Animal Conservation".
This essay highlights the role of the younger generation, especially Gen Z, in preserving animals. This essay also emphasizes the importance of collaboration, education, and innovation in order to create a sustainable ecosystem balance.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. HM Djamaluddin said that this event was not just a competition, but The 4th NSLSM was also a place for education through various other activities that could develop student competencies.
"For example, conservation seminars, discussions on sustainable products, implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, and green jobs," he explained.
The Dean, who is registered as a member of the East Lombok DPRD, also said that this achievement not only makes the campus proud but is also real proof that students are able to compete nationally.
"Active student participation not only reflects the quality of education at the university, but also shows the readiness of the younger generation to take on strategic roles for a better future," he said.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Engineering Study Program Coordinator Agus Muliadi hopes that the knowledge and experience gained by Arif can be applied and shared with the campus community. This is very important to support Hamzanwadi University's efforts to be more active.
In addition to being an educational event, The 4th NSLSM is also a golden opportunity for students to build networks with other participants from various universities in Indonesia.
"This interaction can strengthen collaboration between campuses in sustainability programs, including environmentally friendly campus management and biodiversity conservation," he hoped.
This achievement is expected to motivate other students to continue working and contributing to strategic issues. Students can be part of the solution to global challenges through innovation and useful ideas.
