SELONG - Hamzanwadi University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of East Lombok, Friday, December 29, 2023.

This signing aims to garner support and increase the active role of universities in participatory supervision of the implementation of general elections in Indonesia.

The event was attended by important officials from Hamzanwadi University and Bawaslu RI, Loly Suhenti, Bawaslu NTB, Bawaslu Lombok Timur, Chairperson of the Hamzanwadi Education Foundation, Vice Chancellor and a number of other officials.

Chairperson of the Hamzanwadi Education Foundation HM Djamaluddin appreciated the strategic steps taken by Hamzanwadi University which participated in supervising the 2024 democratic party process.

"We are proud to be part of an initiative that supports integrity, transparency, and fairness in the implementation of general elections in this country," said Djamaluddin.

According to him, the collaboration with Bawaslu will provide an opportunity for students, lecturers, and staff to actively contribute to ensuring that the election process runs smoothly.

This MoU shows the commitment of both parties to carry out various activities that support participatory supervision in the university environment.

In addition, this MoU provides an opportunity for students, lecturers, and staff to be directly involved in election supervision, encouraging them to become positive agents of change.

As an educational institution, Hamzanwadi University has a moral responsibility to form a generation that cares, is active, and is responsible for the future of this nation's democracy.

"Collaboration with Hamzanwadi University is an important step in expanding the participatory supervision network to increase awareness and involvement of the academic community in maintaining election integrity," he said.

The ITB doctoral candidate also emphasized the importance of the role of universities in forming critical thinking and opening up space for discussion and exchange of ideas related to the democratic process.

"We invite all academic components at Hamzanwadi University to support and actively participate in all activities related to this MoU," he appealed.

He also believes that this collaboration will be a strong foundation for Hamzanwadi University to contribute more in maintaining integrity, transparency, and justice in every stage of the general election in the future.
