Universitas Hamzanwadi Secures PISN 2025 Funding with "Ecoperformance" Concept
Lombok Timur, October 1, 2025 – A team of lecturers from Universitas Hamzanwadi has successfully qualified for the 2025 Program Inovasi Seni Nusantara (PISN) or Archipelago Art Innovation Program, organized by the Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Out of thousands of proposals nationwide, only 242 teams were selected, including the Universitas Hamzanwadi team. Their project is titled: "Ecoperformance as an Art Innovation for the Empowerment of Dance Studio Communities and Environmental Sustainability." The team is led by Dr. Armin Subhani, M.Pd. (Geography Education), alongside Alwan Hafiz, M.Sn. (Performing Arts Education) and Rohaeniyah Zain, S.E., M.Pd. (Economic Education).
The funded program innovatively merges traditional dance with environmental issues through a creative approach called Ecoperformance. The primary focus is the empowerment of the Drestha Danastri Dance Studio in East Lombok, establishing it as a community-based art-ecology hub. "Ecoperformance is not just a performance, it is a collaborative movement to invite the community, especially the younger generation, to care for nature through cultural expression," said Dr. Armin Subhani.
Throughout 2025, the team will conduct several activities, including ecoperformance workshops utilizing recycled materials, traditional art regeneration classes, dance training focused on environmental messages, collaborative performances in public spaces, and training on studio management and digital promotion. This approach is designed not only to preserve culture but also to unlock sustainable creative economy opportunities for the art community.
Dr. Shahibul Ahyan, M.Pd., Director of Research and Community Service at Universitas Hamzanwadi, praised the accomplishment. "This is an actual result of our commitment to create groundbreaking innovations that unite cultural preservation, environmental care, and community empowerment," he stated. The program is expected to serve as a replicable model for other regions across Indonesia.
