FIELD-BASED LEARNING: IMPLEMENTATION OF A LIVING LAB IN SAPIT VILLAGE

Field-based learning activities were conducted at Kopi Sapit as part of an innovative teaching approach in the courses Business Initiation and Development and Marketing Management. This activity involved sixth-semester students from the Economic Education Study Program at Universitas Hamzanwadi.

The program was led by Muhamad Ali and Pahruddin, featuring direct practitioners as guest speakers, namely Anton and Agus. The presence of these business actors provided students with empirical insights into the processes of business initiation, management, and development based on local potential.

This activity represents a transformation in the learning approach—from traditional classroom-based learning to experiential learning—by positioning the village as a living laboratory. Through this approach, students not only understand entrepreneurial and marketing concepts theoretically but also directly observe business dynamics, marketing strategies, supply chain management, and real challenges faced by local entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, the activity offers opportunities for students to engage in interactive dialogue, explore business ideas, and conduct critical reflections on business development opportunities rooted in village potential. As a result, the learning process becomes more contextual, practical, and relevant to the needs of the business world and community-based economic development.

The implementation of this field-based learning aligns with Universitas Hamzanwadi's commitment to developing adaptive, innovative education oriented toward strengthening students’ entrepreneurial competencies. In addition, this approach supports the concept of village development as a learning hub (living lab) integrated with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the areas of education, research, and community service.

Through this activity, students are expected to develop the ability to identify business opportunities, formulate business development strategies, and build collaborative networks with local entrepreneurs as part of a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.
