Inauguration of the Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) Training Program and Volunteer Service Initiative

The opening ceremony for the Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) Training and Volunteer Service Program took place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Faculty of Engineering Hall, Hamzanwadi University. Attendees included the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Hamzanwadi University; the Head and faculty members of the university’s Disability Services Center (PLD); the Head of the East Lombok Regional Library and Archives; the Head of the East Lombok Education and Culture Office; and various representatives, including partner schools, PLD volunteers, and BISINDO participants. The presence of these diverse stakeholders reflects a collaborative commitment to creating an educational environment that is not only inclusive but also welcoming to all individuals, including those with disabilities.

Through this program, participants are expected to develop their knowledge and skills in communicating using Indonesian Sign Language. Furthermore, the program aims to foster a spirit of volunteerism, thereby enabling the provision of high-quality services and support to persons with disabilities.

During the remarks session, stakeholders expressed their deep appreciation for the event, viewing it as a concrete step toward raising awareness, fostering concern, and enhancing collaboration among various parties to realize a more inclusive society. The opening event proceeded smoothly and concluded with a group photo, symbolizing the launch of a series of future training and service initiatives and marking the parties' ongoing commitment to building a better future for all.
