Engineering Students of Universitas Hamzanwadi Compete in the International Robotics Competition PIRC 2026 in Malaysia

Selong, April 21, 2026 — Universitas Hamzanwadi officially dispatched its robotics team to participate in the Perak International Robotic Competition (PIRC) 2026, which will take place from April 24 to 26, 2026, at ADTEC Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. The send-off ceremony was led directly by the Vice Rector III of Universitas Hamzanwadi, Dr. Muhamad Ali, M.Si., as a form of institutional support for advancing student achievements at the international level.

On this occasion, the Vice Rector III stated that this participation represents a strategic step by the university to encourage students to compete globally in the field of technology, particularly in robotics and intelligent systems.

“This competition is not only about winning, but about building students’ mentality, innovation, and global competitiveness,” he remarked.

Also present at the send-off was the Coordinator of the Computer Engineering Study Program, Taufik Akbar, M.Kom., who emphasized that the students’ participation is a concrete implementation of an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum oriented toward global competencies.

“Our students do not only learn in the classroom; they are also tested directly on the international stage. This is proof that their competencies are ready to compete,” he explained.

The participating team is part of the ORION UNHAZ ROBOTIC Team, with technical guidance provided by Computer Engineering alumnus Wahyu Rian Pratama, S.T., who serves as both trainer and mentor in preparing the team for the competition.

Universitas Hamzanwadi is sending two robotics teams that will compete in two different categories. These categories demand high-level skills in mechanical design, algorithms, autonomous robot navigation, and competitive strategy.

A total of four students are being sent, consisting of a combination of Computer Engineering and Informatics Engineering students, with each team comprising two members.

The PIRC competition itself is an international robotics event participated in by countries across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. The competition serves as a platform to test students’ capabilities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and to foster innovation in robotics technology.

The team trainer, Wahyu Rian Pratama, S.T., expressed optimism regarding the team’s readiness.

“We have gone through stages of research, assembly, and intensive testing. Our target is not only to participate but also to reach the finals and bring achievements back to our campus,” he stated.

This participation is expected not only to enhance the reputation of Universitas Hamzanwadi but also to represent West Nusa Tenggara and Indonesia on the international stage. Moreover, this activity serves as an important platform in shaping students who are excellent, innovative, and ready to face global technological challenges.

With a spirit of collaboration and innovation, Universitas Hamzanwadi remains optimistic about achieving outstanding results and strengthening its position as a competitive institution in the fields of technology and robotics.
