Strengthening Data-Driven Villages, Hamzanwadi Holds Village Information System Workshop for KKN 2026

Selong — Universitas Hamzanwadi continues to strengthen the role of students in rural development through the implementation of a Workshop on Strengthening the Village Information System (SID), held on Tuesday–Wednesday, April 28–29, 2026, at the Microteaching Lab 2, Universitas Hamzanwadi. The event was organized by the KKN Committee in collaboration with the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) as a follow-up to the KKN 2026 briefing.

The workshop aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the utilization of the Village Information System as a key instrument in supporting the “Empowered Village” program in the Province of West Nusa Tenggara. Participants included KKN group leaders and village operators from 35 villages where students will be assigned.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector III of Universitas Hamzanwadi, Dr. Muhammad Ali, M.Si. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of transforming learning methods to be more contextual and grounded in real-world experience. According to him, in today’s era of information openness, learning should not rely solely on classroom theory.

“Students need to learn from real conditions in the field. Villages serve as living laboratories that provide direct experience in understanding problems as well as designing solutions,” he stated.

He also illustrated this year’s KKN concept as building a house step by step, starting from the foundation until it stands firmly. Programs initiated by students during this period will be continued by subsequent KKN groups, thereby creating sustainable village development.

Meanwhile, Ridho Makruf from the NTB SKALA Team, in his opening remarks, provided a technical overview of the workshop implementation, including the structure of the materials and the training methods to be conducted over the two-day event.

Workshop sessions were delivered in parallel by various stakeholders, including the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) of NTB, DPPM Universitas Hamzanwadi, the Community and Village Empowerment Office (DPMD), and SID practitioners from NTB Province. The speakers provided insights into village data management, the use of information technology, and strategies for implementing SID to support data-driven village planning and development.

Through this activity, it is expected that Universitas Hamzanwadi KKN students will not only be able to carry out their programs in villages but also contribute to strengthening information systems that serve as the foundation for more effective, transparent, and sustainable village development policies.
