The History Olympiad Commemorates the 36th Anniversary of History Education Study Program at Universitas Hamzanwadi

Selong — The Study Program of History Education at Universitas Hamzanwadi officially opened its 36th Anniversary celebrations with a History Olympiad as its main event on Tuesday (January 6, 2026). The theme of this event was "Historical Reflection for a Generation of Achievers," and 23 teams from various schools across West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) had participated.

The opening ceremony took place at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences (FISE) at Universitas Hamzanwadi and was attended by the Dean of Faculty, the History Education Study Program Coordinator, lecturers, and students. The History Olympiad was held for five days, from 6 to 10 January 2026, with a series of preliminary rounds and finals, a history seminar, and a closing ceremony, all of which showcased student creativity.

The Chairman of the Students’ Association of History Education Study Program (HMPS), Lalu Fahrurrozi, stated that the History Olympiad is not only a competition but also a collaborative learning space for students. "We designed this History Olympiad as a shared learning space. Great history is born from the collective work, discussion, and spirit of togetherness of history enthusiasts," he said. Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the History Education Study Program, Muhammad Shulhan Hadi, M.Pd., emphasized that this activity embodies the strategic role of History Education in developing an adaptive and competitive generation. "Through the History Olympiad and this series of Dies Natalis (anniversary celebration), we want to foster a spirit of achievement while strengthening the academic quality of students," he explained.

The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics, Dr. Armin Subhani, M.Pd., delivered remarks and officially opened the 36th anniversary celebration. He commended the History Education Study Program at Universitas Hamzanwadi for its consistent commitment to making the History Olympiad a flagship annual event. "Awareness of history is an important foundation for building the future. This History Olympiad is a strategic tool for instilling historical awareness and building the character of a high-achieving young generation," he said.
