Hamzanwadi University Launches 2026 General English Program, Preparing 2,094 New Students for Global Competitiveness

Pancor – Hamzanwadi University has officially launched the 2026 General English Program as part of its strategy to strengthen student competencies and transform into a globally competitive institution. The launch event took place at the Hamzanwadi University Sports Hall on Tuesday (August 4, 2026), attended by the Rector, vice-rectors, deans, faculty members, administrative staff, and thousands of new students.

Astrid Dwimaulani, M.A., Head of the Hamzanwadi University Language Center, reported that this year’s General English Program involves 2,094 new students from various faculties and study programs. Throughout the program, participants will be guided by 33 tutors—active Hamzanwadi University students who have undergone a month of intensive training to ensure an effective learning process.

Hamzanwadi University Rector, Dr. Ir. Hj. Sitti Rohmi Djalilah, M.Pd., emphasized that the General English Program is a crucial step in the university's Center of Excellence (CoE) roadmap. She stated that English proficiency is a fundamental competency required for students to compete effectively at both national and international levels.

"English proficiency is key. Through this program, we hope to produce Hamzanwadi University graduates who are not only academically excellent but also capable of competing at national and international levels," the Rector asserted.

She added that the internationalization of the university is not achieved solely through partnerships with overseas institutions; it must also be accompanied by enhancing student capacity—specifically regarding foreign language mastery—to equip them for global challenges.

The 2026 General English Program will run for one month, utilizing an interactive learning approach supported by periodic evaluations to track participants' progress. Upon completion, students will advance to the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) stage, which is tailored to the specific needs and characteristics of their respective study programs. Through the implementation of the 2026 General English Program, Hamzanwadi University reaffirms its commitment to fostering a globally oriented educational ecosystem. Strengthening English proficiency is expected to serve as a foundation for producing graduates who are adaptable, competitive, and ready to contribute at both national and international levels, aligning with Hamzanwadi University’s vision of becoming a globally competitive institution grounded in *santri* culture.
