East Lombok — Hamzanwadi University has once again achieved a remarkable feat at the 2026 West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV NTB). Through student-athletes representing various regency and city contingents, Hamzanwadi University distinguished itself as the higher education institution with the highest medal tally among all participating universities in the 2026 PORPROV NTB.

According to data compiled by Hamzanwadi University’s Student Achievement Unit, the students secured a total of 77 medals, comprising 16 gold, 26 silver, and 35 bronze medals. This achievement marks the highest medal count among higher education institutions at the 2026 PORPROV NTB, underscoring Hamzanwadi University's role as a key pillar in the development of student-athletes in West Nusa Tenggara.

This achievement represents a significant milestone for higher education in West Nusa Tenggara. Amidst fierce competition involving thousands of top athletes from across the province's regencies and cities, Hamzanwadi University students demonstrated exceptional quality, competitive spirit, and consistency, ultimately making the university the leading contributor of medals at the higher education level.

PORPROV NTB is an official sporting event organized by the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, serving as a benchmark for the development of competitive sports in the region. The event also plays a crucial role in the selection and preparation of athletes projected to represent West Nusa Tenggara at the 2028 National Sports Week (PON) XXI.

Hamzanwadi University's dominance was evident in its students' success in winning medals across 23 sports disciplines: Wrestling, Sepak Takraw, Kickboxing, Chess, Boxing, Wushu, Pencak Silat, Taekwondo, Athletics, Skateboarding, Hapkido, Kempo, Tarung Derajat, Kurash, Rock Climbing, Basketball, Karate, Cycling, Hockey, Kabaddi, Petanque, Muay Thai, and Archery. Sepak Takraw was the top medal-contributing sport, securing 6 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals. This achievement was bolstered by Petanque (contributing 2 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals), Athletics (2 gold and 2 bronze), and Archery (2 gold), alongside Cycling, Wushu, Kickboxing, and Chess, each of which also contributed gold medals. Meanwhile, other sports disciplines made significant contributions, ultimately making Hamzanwadi University the institution with the highest medal count at the 2026 NTB Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV).

Behind these dozens of medals lies a long process of athlete development. Athletes had to balance training schedules with academic coursework, undergo intensive training camps, and maintain peak performance throughout the competition. This success reflects the synergy among students, coaches, and faculty advisors, as well as the university's full support in fostering a culture of achievement.

Dr. Muhammad Ali, M.Si., Vice Rector III for Student Affairs at Hamzanwadi University, stated that this achievement is the fruit of a shared commitment to building a student ecosystem oriented toward excellence.

He added that the university would continue to strengthen sports development by improving the quality of guidance, providing training facilities, and fostering collaboration with KONI (National Sports Committee of Indonesia), local government bodies, and various national sports governing bodies. "PORPROV represents a crucial step toward PON 2028. We hope that an increasing number of Universitas Hamzanwadi students will be selected to represent the West Nusa Tenggara contingent.
