EAST LOMBOK – Hamzanwadi University is once again expanding its international academic network through the participation of one of its lecturers in the Visiting Lecturer program in China. This activity is a collaboration between several Indonesian universities, the Indonesian Language and Literature Lecturers Association (ADOBSI) and Fuzhou University of Law School, China.

According to an official invitation letter from Fuzhou University of Law School dated March 23, 2026, 10 lecturers from various Indonesian universities were invited to introduce the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program to students and academics in China. The program lasted for three days, from July 1 to 3, 2026.

One of the academics who received this opportunity was Hamzanwadi University lecturer, Dr. Baiq Rismarini Nursaly, M.Hum. She joined lecturers from several leading universities in Indonesia, including Semarang State University (UNNES), Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta, Surabaya State University (UNESA), and Bogor Agricultural University (IPB).

Dr. Baiq Rismarini's participation in this international program received full support from the leadership of Hamzanwadi University. Vice Rector IV of Hamzanwadi University, Dr. Padlurrahman, M.Pd., recommended and encouraged the opportunity to be utilized as an effort to increase academic recognition and strengthen the role of lecturers as international resource persons at universities abroad.

During the program, the visiting lecturer participants engaged in various academic and cultural activities. One example was teaching Indonesian in the classroom, highlighting the local wisdom of their respective regions.

Dr. Baiq Rismarini introduced the tourism potential of Lombok Island as a learning resource for Indonesian Language (BIPA). Through this material, students in China not only learned the language but also gained an understanding of the rich natural resources, culture, and tourist destinations of West Nusa Tenggara.

In addition to teaching, participants also introduced their respective institutions to the Fuzhou University academic community. Hamzanwadi University also introduced the campus's BIPA Center as an Indonesian language learning center for international students.

The Hamzanwadi University BIPA Center offers a variety of learning programs tailored to the needs and goals of learners, whether for academic, research, cultural, or professional communication purposes.

Beyond academic activities, the visiting lecturer program also serves as a platform for Indonesian cultural diplomacy at the international level. Participants introduce the diverse cultural richness of the Indonesian archipelago to students and lecturers at Fuzhou University.

From Lombok, Dr. Baiq Rismarini introduced one of the region's culinary specialties: seaweed dodol. During the cultural introduction session, she explained the manufacturing process, raw materials, and economic value of this local product, which has become a signature souvenir from Lombok Island.

The seaweed dodol, brought specially from Lombok, was then distributed to students and lecturers at Fuzhou University to be enjoyed together. The activity was met with enthusiasm from participants interested in learning more about Indonesia's culinary and cultural richness.

Through this program, Hamzanwadi University hopes to continue expanding its international network while strengthening the promotion of the Indonesian language, Indonesian culture, and regional potential on the global stage. The involvement of lecturers in international academic forums is also expected to increase institutional recognition and open up opportunities for broader educational collaboration in the future.
