Hamzanwadi University Sends Off 56 Student Athletes for the 2026 NTB Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV), Strengthening Steps Toward the PON
Pancor – Hamzanwadi University once again demonstrated its commitment as a leading university in developing student achievement. Fifty-six student athletes were officially sent off to participate in the 2026 West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) in a ceremony held at the Hamzanwadi University Rectorate Building on Friday (July 10th).
The sending off of the contingent was conducted by the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation at Hamzanwadi University, Dr. Muhamad Ali, M.Si., accompanied by the Head of the Student Achievement Development Unit, M. Marzuki, M.Pd. The event was attended by athletes, coaches, officials, and the Hamzanwadi University academic community. In his remarks, Dr. Muhamad Ali, M.Si., emphasized that student participation in PORPROV is not merely about winning medals, but also part of the process of developing strong, disciplined, sportsmanlike, and highly motivated students.
"Sports achievements are one of the hallmarks of a university's progress. I hope all Hamzanwadi University athletes will compete with confidence, uphold sportsmanship, uphold the good name of their alma mater, and give their best. You are not only bringing honor to yourselves, but also bringing honor to Hamzanwadi University and the Province of West Nusa Tenggara," he said.
He also encouraged all athletes to use the PORPROV (Provincial Sports Week) as a momentum to showcase the quality of Hamzanwadi University students, who are capable of achieving in various fields. "Winning is a source of pride, but fighting spirit, discipline, and integrity are the true triumphs. Use every match as a valuable experience to continue developing to a higher level, including representing West Nusa Tenggara at the National Sports Week (PON)," he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Student Achievement Development Unit, M. Marzuki, M.Pd., explained that the increase in the number of athletes sent this year is the result of ongoing student sports development carried out through collaboration between the university, faculties, study programs, coaches, and student organizations. According to him, Hamzanwadi University continues to build a focused student athlete development ecosystem that consistently achieves success.
"At the 2023 NTB PORPROV, Hamzanwadi University sent around 24 student athletes and successfully won 28 medals in various sports. This achievement is a huge motivation for us to improve the quality of athlete development," explained M. Marzuki.
He added that for the 2026 NTB PORPROV, Hamzanwadi University increased the number of athletes sent to 56 students across various sports. This increase demonstrates the university's commitment to providing more space for outstanding students to develop while strengthening its contribution to the advancement of sports in West Nusa Tenggara Province.
"We are not just focused on the number of participants or medals. What's more important is building a sustainable student athlete development system. PORPROV is a crucial stage in preparing Hamzanwadi University's best athletes to compete at the national level and be part of the NTB contingent for the National Sports Week," he said.
The participation of 56 student athletes in the 2026 NTB PORPROV is tangible evidence of the growing confidence and quality of student achievement development at Hamzanwadi University. The athletes, representing various sports, have actively participated in the multi-level coaching, training, and selection process.
