From Thesis to MSME: Hamzanwadi University Computer Engineering Student Creates Automatic Cup Screen-Printing Dryer
Pancor — Research by a Hamzanwadi University student once again demonstrates how academic work can be directed toward addressing real-world business needs. Irfan Wahyudi, a Computer Engineering student at Hamzanwadi University, successfully designed an automatic cup screen-printing dryer utilizing an Arduino-based microcontroller and a PWM-controlled DC motor; the device was implemented at SN Printing in Rempung, East Lombok.
The research, supervised by M. Nuzuluddin, M.Pd., stemmed from issues encountered during the plastic cup screen-printing production process—specifically the drying stage, which was previously performed manually.
By leveraging Arduino microcontroller technology and a DC motor with PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control, Irfan developed a dryer designed to accelerate and improve the efficiency of the cup drying process at SN Printing.
The development of this machine serves as an example of "appropriate technology" implementation driven by the direct needs of business owners. Rather than remaining merely an academic study, the student's research aimed to produce a practical solution for real-world production challenges.
For the Hamzanwadi University Computer Engineering program, research of this nature is part of an effort to encourage student projects that possess practical value and benefit both the community and the business sector.
