East Lombok – The Student Executive Board (BEM) of Hamzanwadi University, through its Creative Economy Ministry, collaborated with the Lenek Vocational Training Center (BLK Lenek)—under the East Lombok Vocational Training and Productivity Center (BPVP)—to organize the "One Program, Diverse Skill Options" initiative. Launched on Tuesday (August 4, 2026), this activity represents a concrete step by students to enhance their competencies and practical skills, preparing them for the workforce or for starting their own independent businesses.

Held at BLK Lenek, the program was attended by 69 Hamzanwadi University students from various study programs. Participants were given the opportunity to choose a skill area based on their interests: coffee (barista) training, bakery, or pastry.

The program was designed to combine theoretical and practical learning. Participants received instruction on skill fundamentals, an introduction to ingredients and equipment, processing techniques, and work standards, followed by hands-on practice guided by competent and experienced instructors.

In the barista training, students gained knowledge regarding coffee types and characteristics, equipment usage, preparation and serving techniques for coffee-based beverages, and customer service. Meanwhile, in the bakery training, participants learned about ingredient selection and functions, dough preparation, fermentation, shaping, and the baking process.

The pastry training provided experience in identifying ingredients and equipment, dough processing techniques, product shaping, baking, and the final stages of finishing and presentation.

Participant enthusiasm was evident throughout the event through active engagement with the material, discussions, questions posed to instructors, and direct involvement in practical sessions. Conducting the program at BLK Lenek also gave students firsthand experience of a vocational training environment that prioritizes practice-based learning and evaluation.

The "One Program, Diverse Skill Options" initiative is expected to go beyond mere training; it aims to equip students with the hard and soft skills needed to unlock employment opportunities and create economically viable businesses. It is also hoped that the collaboration between the Hamzanwadi University Student Executive Board (BEM) and BLK Lenek will continue to be developed through various other training programs. This synergy is part of an effort to mold students who are independent, creative, productive, and adaptable to the dynamics of the workforce, while also enabling them to view skills as opportunities to build economic self-reliance.
